The world’s leading E-commerce platform, Amazon, has started to deploy thermal cameras across its warehouses to detect the temperatures of workers. The cameras have been introduced in order to indicate whether any members of warehouse staff have a fever, and they accomplish this by measuring how much heat humans emit in comparison with their surroundings. The hardware for the cameras has been rolled out across warehouses in Los Angeles and Seattle so far.
A fortnight ago J&P reported that Amazon had started carrying out temperature checks across the US and Europe. The implementation of thermal cameras demonstrates that Amazon is looking to go one step further in using intelligent technology to contain the spread of coronavirus.
