According to a report published by retail research organisation RetailX, UK E-commerce will reach a value of €222.5 billion this year. This is an increase of 10.96% in comparison to the situation last year. The report also revealed that the most popular delivery providers in the UK are Royal Mail (52.7%), Hermes (16.1%) and DPD Group. The findings of the study also show that clothing is the most popular product category, accounting for 60% of product orders.
Last week J&P published news that online supermarkets in the UK have seen an increase of 221% in their transaction numbers as a result of the coronavirus crisis. It could be argued that the general increase in E-commerce activity due to COVID-19 could also contribute to the UK’s E-commerce market rising to a value of €222.5 billion.
