Netherlands-based marketplace Picnic has announced that it has opened its second fulfilment centre in Germany. The new site is 15,000 square metres in size and is located in Herne, Western Germany. The co-founder and CEO of Picnic Germany, Frederic Knaudt, has said “With the significantly increased capacities, we will be able to supply more customers in our current delivery areas and we will also be able to deliver to more locations in North Rhine-Westphalia in the near future.”
In November last year, J&P reported that Picnic had raised $250 million in investments and they were using this money to build a new fulfilment centre in the Netherlands. As the demand for Picnic deliveries has more than doubled during the coronavirus pandemic, the new fulfilment centres will play a key role in delivering essentials to customers in the Netherlands and Germany.
